Pure Marine are hiring a Graduate Economic Researcher who will be responsible for project support in several areas of service delivery for a 3-year contract Pure Marine have with the Irish Maritime Development Office.

The position is a unique opportunity for recent graduates to gain hands on experience in the field of applied economic research. The successful candidate will be afforded the prospect to gain experience working in a strategic research and policy development area. The successful individual will be responsible for project support in several areas of service delivery for a 3-year contract Pure Marine have with the Irish Maritime Development Office. This will include research, analysis and assistance with the preparation of reports and publications. This position is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or post-graduate in Economics or Transport Economics.

Principal Tasks:

  1. Collection and processing of data used in the annual publication of the Irish Maritime Transport Economist (IMTE) and quarterly publications throughout the year.
  2. Provide research and descriptive analysis for IMDO economic reports and briefings and assist with requests from stakeholders in the Irish maritime industry.
  3. Assist in the development and maintenance of the National Shipping Index.
  4. Provide economic research and analysis on national trade and transport themes. Analysis of key statistical data relating to maritime transport, through the utilisation of databases and statistical analysis packages.
  5. Assist in gathering data from Irish ports and maritime transport sectors while maintaining relationships with key contacts.
  6. Monitor, review and report on national and international news daily and keep the IMDO team up to date on relevant maritime developments and issues globally and nationally.
  7. Analysis of key statistical data relating to maritime transport, through the utilisation of databases and statistical analysis packages.
  8. Any other duties required from time to time, appropriate to the position.

The fixed term, fixed purpose contract will run for a maximum of 3 years.
