The duties of an Assistant Deck Supervisor include shipboard maintenance, mooring operations, watch keeping and operating deck machinery. The role involves working with cranes, winches, workboats and helicopter operations and you will also be required to carry out specific duties associated with your experience in shipboard operations.
Operations include servicing buoys and lighthouses so a good level of fitness is needed for working on moving platforms and at height.
As an Assistant Deck Supervisor, you will require leadership skills to supervise deck and service operations in the absence of the Deck Supervisor. You will also be expected to lead by example, particularly in respect to safe working practices.
You will need a valid STCW II/5 Able Seafarer Deck Certificate of Competency and supporting STCW certificates as follows:
- Personal Safety and Social Responsibility Certificate.
- Basic Fire Fighting Certificate.
- Personal Survival Techniques Certificate
- Elementary First Aid Certificate.
- Navigation Watch Ratings Certificate (Deck).
- Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats.
- Designated Security Duties.
- A valid Seafarers Medical Certificate and a full, clean Driving Licence is required. Ideally, you will also have deckhand experience on specialised vessels such as Aids to Navigation or Offshore Anchor Handling.
This position offers an attractive salary range (starting point of the salary scale is €30,440 rising to €37,125), time for time roster (4 weeks on/4 weeks off) and a generous pension scheme.
